Chef's Design 6.4-Quart Stainless-Steel Pressure Cooker
Chef's Design Pressure Cooker, I returned this product the day after I received it because, when I ordered it I thought it was a metal-on-metal pressure cooker, but it WAS NOT.
just as described, This is a great kitchen item to have. It costs a bit more because of the stainless steel construction, but it certainly seems worth the extra dollars. Anyone can use this correctly with great results; if you are new to pressure cooking, do yourself a favor and read the booklet.
no replacement parts, I really liked this pressure cooker until the valve unit got somehow destroyed. The plastic kind of crumbled, like it got overheated. I can't figure out how that happened, but I do have kids and they don't tell me everything. Anyway, as far as I can tell, you can't replace the valve, it's sort of integral to the unit. I ended up filling the hole with some epoxy putty, and that works for now, since there's another pressure release. I have always been suspicious as to the actual pressure inside the pot anyway. My next pressure cooker will have a replaceable pressure valve and perhaps a pressure guage.
On the other hand, the alternate glass top is really nice, to be able to make more use of this big pot has been a good feature.
I also agree with another reviewer, the top is tricky to put on. I won't be buying another one of these. I haven't figured out which one to buy. Until then, I think I'll get the Indian cheapy at Ocean State Job lot for $20...
It's cooking, (What's this?) This was exactly what I had wanted in a pressure cooker: right size, stainless steel and the safety valve. Now it's been 4 years and I still use it on the regular basis. Pressure cooker cuts my cooking time and saves energy. What I also love about it is that it converts into a regular stock pot or steamer with the additional glass cover included.
It is quite heavy. But that's what's expected for a quality pressure cooker. And the issue with sticker, yes, it's a bit sticky for a while. The good news is it does come off after N times wash.
Not so Great Pressure Cooker, (What's this?) If you only want to use it for about six months: "Solid construction and easy to use. Makes great Beef Stew & Pot Roast in a hurry." That was my review right after I bought it. A year later and nothing but trouble. Replaced upper side handle and gasket seal because all the pressure was escaping through the safety valve. Did not correct the problem.
Best way to cook!, (What's this?) This is my 2nd Chef's Design pressure cooker. With my first one, I left it on the heat too long (empty) and the bottom seperated. This is a very safe cooker. I do not think it could ever explode. Be careful with tomatoes/sauces as they can stick if not well mixed with other ingredients. I use it a lot for cookng brown rice: 20 min to cook, 5 min to cool.
Great product - TERRIBLE CUSTOM SERVICE, (What's this?) This is a very well built pressure cooker, solid and easy to use. However, the first Chef's Design P.C. I purchased via Amazon broke within weeks. The heavy gauge plastic pressure release valve broke and stays locked in "release" position. The price was better than any other, so I simply bought another. The new one is terrific and we use it regularly without any issues.
The cooker gets 5 stars, but Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry Co. gets no stars for their rude phone reps and evasive warranty policies.
Their warranty clearly states, " if the product becomes defective within the warranty period, Wisconsin Aluminum will replace or repair it at our discretion." It also states that they will not cover damage to the product resulting from misuse, overheating, accidents or alteration to the product. NO WHERE DOES IT STATE THAT W.A. ONLY COVERS THE ACTUAL STAINLESS STEEL CONTAINER - NOT THE PLASTIC RELEASE HANDLE, which was the first thing out of their customer services mouth!
When I called them to let W.A. know I was about to send the lid back, the rep promptly told me that the pot I purchased in late 2004 was in fact 14 years old and they didn't make it anymore and wouldn't fix it. I explained that I recently bought the same item for a second time on Amazon a few months go and assured her that they DO still make it. She than told me that I shouldn't have waited to send it back and than I wouldn't have and to purchase a new one. That may be true, but it was still defective and should be covered by the warranty of 10 years!
I should be considered a GOOD CUSTOMER since I returned to buy another from them, but instead I was treated like a kid that got caught chewing gum in school.
FINALLY after objections, explanations and not letting the Rep push me around, she opted to just send me the 2 plastic parts that were dysfunctional, to be fixed by myself...
WISCONSIN ALUMINUM Co. , if you don't want to honor your 10 year warranty...
Problem with pressure safety valve, Nice heavy stainless cooker. However, a small metal cylinder fell out of the safety valve in the upper side handle of the lid. It appears something has gone missing e.g. a spring or fastener, but the troubleshooting section of the users' manual makes no mention of the safety valve and I cannot find a local distributer to repair it. Now the pot is useless as a pressure cooker because the open hole makes it impossible to build pressure.
ok, (What's this?) this is my first pressure pot, I choose this one after reading reviews.
1. looks pretty good, nice quality stainless steel, and bonus pot cover.
2. size is good to serve 4 to 8 people.
3. Cooking time is longer than I expected. Still in the process of learning how to use it.
4. I did not have the issue to peeling of the sticker, it almost fall itself.
Good choice,
I only have few words to say about this product.
Good product.
Good price.
