    All-American 30-Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner

Exceeded my expectations, (What's this?) This pressure cooker is wonderful. It is made in the USA! I was able to process the double layer of jars on my flat-top cook-top without problems. It was exceptional easy to regulate the PSI as well. My mother has a pressure cooker from the same company that is 30+ years old and it is still going strong.
twice as fast, (What's this?) better than my old canner you had to watch it every second so the pressure would not go to high and explode and because of the size I can can twice as much in the same time.
It's worth every penny, I use this pressure cooker for canning exclusively. If you can a lot of garden vegetables (if you do, you know what I mean by "a lot") there is no better product. Not only will you be able to can vegetables like beans that require pressure canning, but you will more quickly can tomatoes than you ever could in a water bath canner. Quality - especially American made quality - (how often do we see that these days in consumer goods?) doesn't come cheap, but it is an investment and will literally last a lifetime. A simply beautiful product, solid, thick, strong and durable. Don't hesitate. I know it's not cheap, but cheaper products will disappoint.
REALLY SOLID!, (What's this?) Got this canner as an early Christmas gift at the very end of November and was very impressed by three things: One, the solidity and excellent workmanship of it's construction, Two, it is made in the United States, and three, the response from the Manufacturer to my phone call inquiring regarding the missing instruction manual, weights and metal layer dividers which were supposed to come with it but were accidentally left out. The person who answered the phone was cheerful, helpful, knew precisely what to do and did it immediately. The missing parts arrived by mail directly from All American no more than 5 days after the phone call.

If for no other reason, I would recommend this manufacturer for their marvelous customer service. Fortunately, their product appears to be just as good as their service staff!

Waaayyy different experience from my last issue with a new Chantal tea kettle which was defective out of the box: retailer (NOT Amazon) would not take it back, and insisted that I needed to handle the warranty through the manufacturer, who would not respond to multiple phone calls or e-mails - Chantal is now, obviously, now on my list of "Never purchase this firms crud again for any reason".

I can't wait to use this canner for larger batches of dill pickles once Kirby cucumbers are back in season and available! Don't care what anybody says, even in California, pickling cucumbers are not available on the market in November, and when you live in an apartment, growing them yourself is not a terribly practical idea.
Great canner, (What's this?) This is a great canner and my Amazon purchase was flawless. I wish I'd bought this size 10 years ago.
THE standard for Pressure Cookers, (What's this?) All American has long been THE standard for pressure cookers. I use mine as a sterilizer for preparing mushroom spawn, and substrates. It also does a great job of making canned goods. The All American 930 easily fits 14 quart jars, or 6-8 spawn bags, depending on how full they are. Im very happy with this purchase, the price was right, and the shipping was free. This thing is built well enough, that my kids will be using it long after I am gone. This purchase was a great investment.
Sucessfully used on a glass top stove, wonderful canner., I raise my own organic meat chickens (in the suburbs, no less) and knew that eventually I would have to get my own pressure canner to take advantage of the stock that can be made from the leftover bones after cutting up the dressed birds for the freezer. I did several hours of online research and people who really liked this canner reasoned that it was built like a tank and would (or already did) last for several several generations. It was also the only pressure canner that all the little Amish cookware shops sold when I shopped in Holmes county. Besides, I could do 14 quarts at a time, cutting my canning time in half!

After consulting my husband (this was a considerable purchase for us), we agreed that it would be worth it to get something that would last a really long time and not have to replace any gaskets and we were willing to take the risk since we currently owned a 7 year old Whirlpool Super Capacity 465 glass top stove. The stove is getting slow to heat pots and the oven runs about 50 degrees low and we'd really enjoy upgrading to a gas range someday so we agreed to be really careful and see if we could use the pressure canner on it. We also agreed that though the canner can also be used as a boiling water bath canner, We wouldn't use it for that since I already have a large stockpot for that purpose and the additional weight might push the glass top over the edge. We purchased the canner at Lehman's Hardware for $269, the tax and gas to get there made the savings over amazon a wash but I needed it right away.

I studied the user's manuel a day in advance and studied it thoroughly. This thing strongly resembles a bomb and I didn't want it exploding.
Best pressure canner, (What's this?) I previously had a pressure canner with a gasket that would always leak. The All-American canner has no gasket and therefore no problems with leaking. I also love the fact that I can process 14 quarts at a time. It is a real time saver.
Top Quality, (What's this?) I have just finished a couple rounds of canning raw pack meat, and I am in love with this canner. It is made in the USA and is a quality you don't find these days. This is one of those items that will be passed down for several generations.

My only advice is to read the manual thoroughly. It is different from other canners because of the metal to metal seal, so you must follow the instructions for lubrication and tightening to get the best results and not damage your canner.
Not a Throwaway, Had mine for over 25 years and it hasn't let me down yet. Due to the weight, it is hard on solid surface stoves. I'm replacing my range and would love an induction cooktop but NOT with this canner-that's why I'll have to spend big bucks for a pro line dual fuel (has those heavy cast iron grates). A pot filler is on the wish list so I don't have to lug water to fill this baby as I plan to can for as long as I breath.

The high heat generated by a pressure cooker can kill more bacteria than a regular hot water bath, making this pressure cooker the ideal tool for canning vegetables and non-acid fruit. All-American's 30-quart pressure cooker/canner holds up to 19 pint jars or 14 quart jars. Only All-American pressure cookers/canners feature an exclusive, precision-machined "metal-to-metal" sealing system. Clamping locks align the cover to the base, forming a steam-tight seal. Fagor Pressure Cooking For Every Occasion Cookbook

Worst Pressure-Cooker Cook Book Ever, (What's this?) No recipes are "inspired" like you will find throughout "Miss Vickie's" and to a slightly less degree in Lorna Sass books.
Buy it only if you want lots of good info on canning, plus recipes for baby octopus and cut-up squid.
Now I have to figure out how to return the book to Amazon.
NOTE: This bad review does not include Fagor pressure cookers, which I've found to be great. I recommend Amazon's FAGOR-combo whch share the same lid. Using a basket, the larger one nicely steams 5# potatoes for garlic smashed potatoes. Smaller one holds 6 pork chops, etc.

Kuhn Rikon Duromatic Anniversary 3.7-Quart Pressure Cooker

OK if you're cooking for three or less, (What's this?) I bought the combination set for myself and liked it so much that I bought one of these for each of my five children. Four of my five children cook for three or less so the size of the pot was adequate. To do a recipe, say, from the internet (Allrecipes and such), you'll probably want to cut it in half to cook in this size of pot. I cooked in the pot and it seemed a bit flimsier than the ones that I have. If you're cooking for four or more, I'd go with a larger pot. I've had my set for two years now and use one or the other everyday. I'm more than happy with the brand.
Kuhn Rikon, (What's this?) This pressure cooker performs very well as advertised. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the 3.7 quart size. If I was to purchase another, it would be a larger size. The smaller size has limitations on certain foods like beans and rice. I am very satisfied with the foods that it does process.
Nice, but reluctant to pressurize., (What's this?)
Like 1-star reviewer Poindexter, we often had trouble getting ours to pressurize. But that's been the case with all the pressure cookers I've come across.

My trick is to put it on high when steam starts coming out, and that will usually get it to go. Wetting the gasket before putting on the lid seems to help too, but sometimes I just can't get one to pressurize. Of course, cleaning everything (valves and all mating surfaces, without scratching 'em) helps too.

Before the Kuhn Rikon, I had a
Know your size, Although I love this pressure cooker, I wish I had purchased a larger size. That is entirely my fault. Clearly I'm not going to make a huge soup in a 3.7 quart pot. Potential buyers should think about what it is that they expect to cook and how much, and then select an appropriate size. 3.7 quarts sounded big enough to me, but remember that the pressure cooker can only be filled half way for pressure cooking soups, grains, beans, and foods that expand, or 2/3 full for other foods.
The pressure cooker comes with a recipe book, however all the recipes are for size 4 quart or larger pressure cookers (except the frying pan recipes).

The instruction manual says it is NOT suitable for apple compote, cranberries, porridge (oat flakes), barley, peas, pasta, macaroni, rhubarb, or some cereals because those foods tend to foam and froth and could block the valve.

Otherwise, this pressure cooker is great! I have no problems with it. It works wonderfully. I will happily use it to make my dried beans, brown rice, and veggies.
AVOID - CAN'T GET PARTS, I used it for around 100 times and then the pressure safety valve began leaking. So I called the number posted on the Kuhn Rikon web site, and the phone said "memory error." The phone is run by a fly-by-night small firm which is supposed to provide parts, but seems to be moribund. I also emailed Kuhn Rikon, but no response.
excellent value for great product, Having used Rikon Duromatic for 30 years I can only say: congratulations. Great value for a great product.
Great pot!, (What's this?) This little pot is great! It's handling all recipes for the 4 or 5 qt pot.
Very silent performer, (What's this?) This is my second buy of the same product, because I loved the first one so much. It works superbly and it is really easy to clean up (I hand wash the lid, but place the pot in the dishwasher), the size is perfect for our family of four. I was very impressed by how silent these things are, you must use a timer if you tend to forget things, like I do! The seller included a very handy cook book by the company, which is the best reference over other cook books that were recommended.
Top of the line slow cooker!, (What's this?) I am more than pleased with my new Kuhn Rikon slow cooker! The rice does taste better than when I cook it in a regular pot and I do use much less heat. In fact, I almost have to shut the heat off when cooking rice so the pressure doesn't get too high.

The only thing I do not like so far is that the recipe book and the instruction book say two different times for some of the food items. For example, brown rice is 20-25 minutes in the recipe book, but 18 in the instruction book. Not a huge deal, but still I would like it to be consistent.
The Cadillac of Pressure Cookers, Indeed!, (What's this?)
I bought the anniversary Duromatic September 5, 2010. I have an 8-quart Magefesa pressure cooker and needed a smaller one to quickly cook small volumes of vegetables. I was hoping I could use less water with this cooker so that my vegetables would have more flavor. Yes I can with the Kuhn Rikon. I can cook cabbage, carrots and parsnips, bok choy, kale using 1/4 cup water. Brown/wild rice texture is improved when cooked in this cooker. I do not save time cooking my breakfast whole grain cereal with the cooker. I suspect I need to buy an instruction book to learn more about cooking grains.

I have used pressure cookers for years. The Kuhn Rikon is a lovely, heavy pan and is easy to use. It reaches pressure quickly and is quiet. I reach for the pan daily because I enjoy using it. So I am eating more vegetables. The cooker is expensive but the quality is worth it.

Kuhn Rikon Duromatic pressure cookers are designed with safety in mind. The automatic lid-locking device insures that no pressure can build up until the lid is put on correctly. The lid cannot be removed or come off until all pressure has been released. The cookers also provide the ultimate protection against excess pressure. The first indication that too much pressure has built up inside the cooker is the audible hiss as excess pressure is released through the valve. (When the user hears this, the heat should be turned down.) The valve will take care of any over pressurization by allowing steam to escape through the holes located on the valve stem. Additionally, another spring-loaded safety valve in the lid is set to release steam in case of a clogged main valve.

Chef's Design 9-Quart Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker

I love this pressure cooker!, (What's this?) I got this for my husband as a gift, and it's great. The glass lid that comes with it makes it really useful as a regular stock pot too.
Great Pressure Cooker!, (What's this?) I've had this pressure cooker for 6 years now and I lost my manual. It wasn't easy to find it on-line but I finally did. You need to get it from the Wisconsin Foundry website. [...]

I hope that saves somebody some time.
Has been working great so far!, The first Chef's pressure cooker I received was broken.
(The handle was flimsy, damaged during shipping. So I gave it 4 stars.)
Amazon replaced it and the second one has been working great so far.

I love the size(9-Qt)of this pressure cooker.
If you enjoy cooking at home a lot.
My first pressure cooker, (What's this?) I've only used it once since getting this easy to use pressure cooker. It made perfect split pea soup in 12 minutes once it got up to steam. I can't wait to use it for artichokes and other vegetables, soups, and dishes that usually take a long time to cook. It is easy to cleam up. The only drawback is that the cover with extended handle takes up more storage room than traditional pots. All in all, I'm quite happy with the product.
Excellent, The pressure cooker works great, it even has two different valves dependenig on the pressure you want to cook on, and a security lock.
Chef's Design 9-Quart Stainless-Steel Pressure Cooker, The product is terrific- generally it is well made and works well. The only two things I see as being problematic are 1] There is a cheap plastic catch under the lid that will likely eventually break. Hopefully not...... and 2] The arrow to put the lid on and remove it is not vey well marked so it is a slight nuisance to work with (and especially if the pot is extremely hot). Otherwise, I really like my purchase and use it several times a week.
A good buy!, (What's this?) I love this cooker, it's big and sturdy and is of stainless steel. But it took me a little while get it to work properly. Initially I loaded it to almost the top and noticed steam leaking out. I then rearranged to fit about 3/4th the size of the cooker and the food was cooked very fast!
I have used it several times since and have consistently gotten great results.
Chefs Design Customer Service, (What's this?)
    Badly Made, (What's this?)
great pressure cooker, (What's this?) I would highly recommend this pressure cooker to anyone who is in the market to buy one.

    Chef's Design 6.4-Quart Stainless-Steel Pressure Cooker

    Chef's Design 6.4-Quart Stainless-Steel Pressure Cooker
Chef's Design Pressure Cooker, I returned this product the day after I received it because, when I ordered it I thought it was a metal-on-metal pressure cooker, but it WAS NOT.
just as described, This is a great kitchen item to have. It costs a bit more because of the stainless steel construction, but it certainly seems worth the extra dollars. Anyone can use this correctly with great results; if you are new to pressure cooking, do yourself a favor and read the booklet.
no replacement parts, I really liked this pressure cooker until the valve unit got somehow destroyed. The plastic kind of crumbled, like it got overheated. I can't figure out how that happened, but I do have kids and they don't tell me everything. Anyway, as far as I can tell, you can't replace the valve, it's sort of integral to the unit. I ended up filling the hole with some epoxy putty, and that works for now, since there's another pressure release. I have always been suspicious as to the actual pressure inside the pot anyway. My next pressure cooker will have a replaceable pressure valve and perhaps a pressure guage.
On the other hand, the alternate glass top is really nice, to be able to make more use of this big pot has been a good feature.
I also agree with another reviewer, the top is tricky to put on. I won't be buying another one of these. I haven't figured out which one to buy. Until then, I think I'll get the Indian cheapy at Ocean State Job lot for $20...
It's cooking, (What's this?) This was exactly what I had wanted in a pressure cooker: right size, stainless steel and the safety valve. Now it's been 4 years and I still use it on the regular basis. Pressure cooker cuts my cooking time and saves energy. What I also love about it is that it converts into a regular stock pot or steamer with the additional glass cover included.

It is quite heavy. But that's what's expected for a quality pressure cooker. And the issue with sticker, yes, it's a bit sticky for a while. The good news is it does come off after N times wash.
Not so Great Pressure Cooker, (What's this?) If you only want to use it for about six months: "Solid construction and easy to use. Makes great Beef Stew & Pot Roast in a hurry." That was my review right after I bought it. A year later and nothing but trouble. Replaced upper side handle and gasket seal because all the pressure was escaping through the safety valve. Did not correct the problem.
Best way to cook!, (What's this?) This is my 2nd Chef's Design pressure cooker. With my first one, I left it on the heat too long (empty) and the bottom seperated. This is a very safe cooker. I do not think it could ever explode. Be careful with tomatoes/sauces as they can stick if not well mixed with other ingredients. I use it a lot for cookng brown rice: 20 min to cook, 5 min to cool.
Great product - TERRIBLE CUSTOM SERVICE, (What's this?) This is a very well built pressure cooker, solid and easy to use. However, the first Chef's Design P.C. I purchased via Amazon broke within weeks. The heavy gauge plastic pressure release valve broke and stays locked in "release" position. The price was better than any other, so I simply bought another. The new one is terrific and we use it regularly without any issues.
The cooker gets 5 stars, but Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry Co. gets no stars for their rude phone reps and evasive warranty policies.
Their warranty clearly states, " if the product becomes defective within the warranty period, Wisconsin Aluminum will replace or repair it at our discretion." It also states that they will not cover damage to the product resulting from misuse, overheating, accidents or alteration to the product. NO WHERE DOES IT STATE THAT W.A. ONLY COVERS THE ACTUAL STAINLESS STEEL CONTAINER - NOT THE PLASTIC RELEASE HANDLE, which was the first thing out of their customer services mouth!
When I called them to let W.A. know I was about to send the lid back, the rep promptly told me that the pot I purchased in late 2004 was in fact 14 years old and they didn't make it anymore and wouldn't fix it. I explained that I recently bought the same item for a second time on Amazon a few months go and assured her that they DO still make it. She than told me that I shouldn't have waited to send it back and than I wouldn't have and to purchase a new one. That may be true, but it was still defective and should be covered by the warranty of 10 years!
I should be considered a GOOD CUSTOMER since I returned to buy another from them, but instead I was treated like a kid that got caught chewing gum in school.
FINALLY after objections, explanations and not letting the Rep push me around, she opted to just send me the 2 plastic parts that were dysfunctional, to be fixed by myself...
WISCONSIN ALUMINUM Co. , if you don't want to honor your 10 year warranty...
Problem with pressure safety valve, Nice heavy stainless cooker. However, a small metal cylinder fell out of the safety valve in the upper side handle of the lid. It appears something has gone missing e.g. a spring or fastener, but the troubleshooting section of the users' manual makes no mention of the safety valve and I cannot find a local distributer to repair it. Now the pot is useless as a pressure cooker because the open hole makes it impossible to build pressure.
ok, (What's this?) this is my first pressure pot, I choose this one after reading reviews.
    1. looks pretty good, nice quality stainless steel, and bonus pot cover.
    2. size is good to serve 4 to 8 people.
    3. Cooking time is longer than I expected. Still in the process of learning how to use it.
    4. I did not have the issue to peeling of the sticker, it almost fall itself.
    Good choice,
I only have few words to say about this product.

    Good product.
    Good price.
